Match Preview: UNAM Pumas vs Chivas de Guadalajara

In the biggest game this weekend, UNAM Pumas will receives Chivas de Guadalajara on sunday. Two teams with very different starts will face in the heat of CU. We take a look at both of them and the match.

UNAM Pumas

Coming from a great win against Queretaro (for the first time sinces the 90's) Pumas is coming to their first game with the news of getting a new addition in defender Francisco Dutari. Pumas looked great in the first game with Daniel Ludueña showing flashes of the great last season and 2 goals from forward Ismael Sosa, who had a bad last season. Pumas is clicking but still will probably get tested for the first time and it has to show if they will have a good season at home while facing the biggest name in Mexican football.

Chivas de Guadalajara

Chivas had another bad start in a season where the descenso shadow is very present. The struggles of last season appeared again. Forwards Denigris and Bravo had terrible games and although new addition Fernando Arce showed promise and scored a goal, Carlos Salcido looked bad at times in defense. They are also going to miss Nestor Vidrio. It's a key game but the heat will not help.

Overview

It's clear that Pumas is the favorite but it's a title that has sometimes hit the team hard.Chivas had a great run of results in CU and even when they lost last season, it was still a tough game for Pumas. It won't be easy but if Pumas plays to capacity and Chivas doesn't radically change their game, Pumas has the upper hand to get a win on sunday.
